10 Ways to sack your boss, quit your job and Work for Yourself

It is very clear that work is scarce and there are job cuts everywhere. The new face of technology driven business has shown to enable anyone to create a job to keep a job. This is the only way to secure your employment and financial future – starting a company.

The resume-driven society make you believe that ‘if you work hard, go to school and read hard to pass your exams in flying colours, then you ‘ll get a job and be ok. This traditional thinking has changed with technology and so it no longer applies.

What you need is to be entrepreneurial to be successful; You need to create a job to keep a job

In an Interview with Mr. Gabriel Nnamadu,  He said theth is “When you work for someone else you’re putting all your eggs into one basket that you don’t own or hold. If you want to secure your financial future regardless of the bad economy, you need to be in control of your own life,” .

Are you ready to take a step at entrepreneurship?

Drop drop off your ego: You will not go far with business success if you have ego.

Keep you idea and business model simple, stupid: IDo not start a business that is complex. A simple and systematic business model will bring easier success that a complex one. Create products that are simple and sell such products to many customers for profit

Be ready for theworst-case scenario (because it will happen): You are responsible for every decision you take, therefore, plan for the worst so you’re not caught off guard if it happens. This will help you to come up with alternative decisions and considerations.

Forget about being original: many have not started business because they want to be original. Don’t re-invent the wheel. Creativity will allow you run over the wheel. Better an already existing idea instead of trying to start one.

Don’t start a business that has big moneytary demand if you don’t have it: Start a business that is efficient with few monetary demands in the beginning. Start with the cash you have. There are a lot of businesses that can turn into quick profit.

Don’t partner with just anyone: Assess if a partnership makes sense before you jump into it.
Your friends might seem like the best partners, but they might end up slacking off and doing nothing. Or someone who seems great might take you through the ringer later on,” says Gerber. “Make sure you evaluate what a partner can bring to the table and make sure it’s worth it.”

Forget the old school business plan: Forget about the long paragraph startup plans of the old. All you need is just one paragraph business plan. Anything longer is not necessary. Stop thinking you have to write a business plan for investors or dense dissertations. You don’t need a traditional plan to be a small business owner,

“Business planning isn’t a revenue-generating opportunity. Instead, get started on your business so you can make money as soon as possible.”

All you need is writing one paragraph in question and answer format in lieu of a 95-page plan that takes six months to put together. “Don’t use business plan software, don’t listen to experts — they’re nonsense. All you need to do is organize your thoughts in a way that’s good for your business.”

Remember that Phones won’t ring themselves
You must market your company always.Put yourself out into the world. Always be selling yourself without being a used car salesman. “Join groups, network regularly, and find different ways to get your business in front of people.”

Be afraid You should be afraid to have never failed. In other words, the idea of not trying should scare you. You should be afraid to wake up 10, 20, 30 years from now and be pointing your finger at the TV saying, that was my idea that has been taken or stolen or thought of it. “What you should never be afraid of is to never get a real job.”

And Finally, Be your own boss even if you are in the college:

Most people have dreamt of being their own boss, setting their own hours, and having every minute of work be directly beneficial. I advise that whether you’re just graduating college or are already in the workforce or in college, this dream is possible. Stop listening to your parents. Build your own financial future starting from now.

You’ve done it again Henry…ideas certainly rule the world.

I must agree, it is not easy being an entrepreneur but it pays off in so many countless ways. I would like to really zero in on your first point..the ego issue (as this is one problem most Nigerian graduates face).

Most people (especially graduates) don’t want to start small and finish big…they expect to finish school and just get a job that pays them 5-6 figures monthly.

The truth being an employee is that, your job is not secure and you might as well lose it anytime because of lots of factors like economic melt down, changes in technological trend etc.

Imagine the effect the introduction of computers into offices has caused, most people who were used to using typewriters and who never moved along with the trend lost their jobs.

In summary, where the money is, is with the employers of labour and not the employees.

    I rest my case.

Sometimes, you get philosophical, sometimes, psychological, sometimes objective and sometimes plain frank. Only a fool or a downright sluggard will not gain something from you. Keep it up. You are in the like of Dr. Sunny Obazu-Ojeagbase. Henry the Great.
As old as I am, the ego issue is ruling all our youths and that includes my humble self. Thanks for your thought-provoking points.
